In order to bridge the critical information gap in Ghana's agricultural sector especially knowledge content targeted at rural smallholder farmers in Ghana, Croplife Ghana has partnered with a Remote Sensing technology company, SyeComp, to deliver critical information resources to rural farmers across all farming enclaves in the country.

Farmers in Ghana registered for mfarmPay would receive technical agronomic information covering agrochemical anti-counterfeiting and covid-19 advisory support. CropLife Ghana will scale its service offerings to thousands of rural smallholder farmers in Ghana targeted at minimizing anti-counterfeiting in the use of Crop Protection Products. It will also serve as a unique opportunity to increase product visibility of CropLife Ghana member companies.

Information will be delivered as text messaging and Voice Short Messaging Service (SMS) push to all registered farmers. Radio stations across Ghana have also been engaged to play information-rich jingles on their respective airwaves at specific times. Additionally, farmers receiving these information and acting on the advisory would also be digitally mapped by SyeComp and pre-qualified for mfarmPay financing from partner financial institutions in Ghana.

Covid-19 pandemic is having a real effect on health and could potentially disrupt Ghana's agrifood supply chains. This initiative is expected to contribute to empowering Ghanaian smallholder farmers and agribusinesses to beat the negative impact of the pandemic.
